In addition to exhibition activities, the Finnish Cultural Institute in New York provides residencies for Finnish artists, designers and architects in New York. The Institute's two artist-in-residency apartments are located in New York City, one in Greenwich Village and one in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Two artist-in-residency grants are awarded at a time for artists to stay in the Institute's lofts for varying lengths of time (from one to six months).
Applications for participation in the program are accepted annually in May. The grant recipients are carefully chosen by experts in the field of visual arts through a highly competitive jurying process. During the past ten years over 300 artists have had the opportunity to work and live in New York through the Institute's artist-in-residency program.
